PS3 Game Strategies: NCAA Football 10
51If you’re all out to kick some collegiate butt on the field on your PS3 then you need to have NCAA Football 2010 when it comes out this July 14, 2009. And to ensure that victory’s on your side, you can arm yourself with some of the strategies below.
Pocket Protection
If you’ve played any of the previous installments in this highly popular football game franchise, there may have been instances when you had wished for full pocket protection. Fortunately, the brains behind EA Sports have heard your prayers and acted accordingly.
Now, you can factor in pocket protection the next time you design a play for your team. With the newly acquired ability of Tackles to form a wide Defensive End around the quarterback, you can add more subtlety – and security – to your moves. In NCAA Football 2010, you’re also afforded the option of having linebackers string out similarly, all for the glory of your quarterback!
At present, game designers are still fine-tuning this feature, working in particular to make sure that everything’s balanced between offensive and defensive line.
Depth of Field
At first glance, players of NCAA Football 2010 may consider this as a merely visual – read: superficial – enhancement, one that can’t help them win the game. That, however, could be their biggest mistake and may even cost them the game.
With depth of field, a certain part of an image is in focus and may look particularly vivid or sharp. Say you’re focused on your team player. With depth of field operating, opponents in pursuit will look softer or practically fuzzy and fading in comparison.
Three things make depth of field work: lens aperture, lens focal length, and the distance of the subject from the lens. When you’re playing NCAA Football 2010 on your PS3, you need to know that there are now both a near and far plane and they’ll adjust based on those three factors mentioned earlier on.
Without depth of field, the game could still seem unrealistic, the stadium and even the players like miniatures. EA Sports sought to correct this by performing numerous tests and building a library of real-life action shots of the game. Charts were drawn up to accurately determine the best angles for every move.
That, however, is not the only way you’ll benefit from depth of field once you’ve loaded NCAA Football 2010 on your PS3.
The greatest benefit of depth of field is improved eye direction. Your attention is drawn to the most important things on the screen, making it clear to you what you should prioritize the most. Any background element that proves to be distracting is eliminated to help you design the best play possible for your team.
Players wearing single digit helmet numbers will have these properly highlighted. And when it’s time for the Big Game, whether it’s thirty years down the line for your franchise or Super Bowl XLIII, your team gets to wear special Super Bowl patches on their jerseys. And just to increase the probability of winning or you simply wish to be as accurate as possible, fields for Super Bowl are made customizable.
Keeping all these in mind, July 14 can’t seem to come soon enough, can it?
